about greeting

My opinion changed after the class. My opinion was negative, but I thought that Islamic people are kind and sincerity. I'd like to study about some religion from now on.

1. How do you greet people in your life? Is it different for different people? Why?

I often greet my friends with waving hands by saying "Ohayou" in the school. We always say "Ohayou" even it is noon. It is a little bit strange, but it is habit in ours.
And I greet my teachers and other people by saying "Ohayougozaimasu" or "Konnichiwa". It is different , because they are superior for me. I think that I have to greet them rightly.
I greet very occasionally my close friends by hugging. I don't know why..but we greet so.

2. Do you touch people when you talk to them? Why? Or Why not?

No. I don't touch.
I' ve never thought it is why, but I think Japanese people don't touch when we greet and talk to, it is Japanese custom.

So you say goodmorning to some one when its the first time you see them, even if its not morning. We don't have this custom in America. Usually we just say Hi, because it doesn't matter what time of day it is.

I think so, too!! It is strange students say "おはよう" even it is in the afternoon. I also wonder when we should divide the time of the day. I talked about this topic with Ms. Meiki, and I found that it depends!!
